I recently heard a quote on a podcast that went something like this…
"In order to become who we really are, we need to stop believing the stories we are currently telling ourselves about who we are…. we need to strip away who we have become in order to truly become ourselves again." Click To TweetInteresting right? Interesting that the people we are now may not be our true self.
How can this happen? How can who we are, who we have become, not be our true self?
And why do we let it go on for so long with out stopping it. Without the realization that we have the ability to shed these unhelpful thoughts. Did you hear that subtle difference? That WE have the ability to do this for ourselves.
An other quote which comes to mind as I am writing this is
“Wouldn’t it be a shame to look back on your life and realize that the only thing holding you back was you.”
That quote is from a book which I frequently page through and sticks in my mind. I hear it sometimes when I am quiet and perhaps not on the right path. When I know my dreams are bigger than how I am playing.
Yes, indeed that would be a shame to look back on life with this view. But perhaps we can beat our selves at this crazy game most of us play with ourselves. What if we can do what is needed to be this true version of ourselves right now. Then we can all look back, whether at the end of our lives or simply at the end of each year and know that we have made decisions, built businesses, made friends, and on and on, with our authentic self leading the way. Our Authentic self living and playing as big as she can.
Now wouldn’t that be incredible. If every person you knew and met on the street was acting from their Authentic self. Acting and reacting in only their truest voice and intentions.
So how do we get there. How do we move towards our Authentic self. What steps can we all take to give strength to this true voice.
Let’s start with the basics.

5 Steps To Take Towards True You.
STEP 1 : Begin to explore what stories and patterns are in the way of allowing your true self to step forward. While one or two may be clear immediately be sure to watch for deeper unconscious versions that may begin to show up once you start looking.
STEP 2 : Begin to explore who your true self is and why you feel it is important to bring her forward at this time. I use the word “begin” as this may evolve over time as you get clear on who she is, be patient with your self.
STEP 3 : Begin to explore which people in your life support the “old” you and which people will support the Authentic version of you. Be honest in this view, and open to it changing as you change.
STEP 4 : Begin to outline what changes you will need to make in order to move towards Authentic you. This outline should include both big and small steps.
STEP 5 : Outline what changesPractice daily and weekly rituals to support the emergence of the Authentic you. Woo Woo and non Woo Woo methods work here, each person will have different needs. Examples may include journaling, meditation, working out, etc…
Step 6… and what may be the most important.
Do it now. Start today.
Pull out your journal or simply a sheet of printer paper and get writing.
Write all the above steps down today and check in on it daily. The next week write them all again. I bet a few things have changes already. Let me know in the comments
