the 4 letter F word holding you back.

So I have a question for you, is there something you dream of doing, building, saying, writing, creating… the verbs are endless.

Deep down, or maybe not so deep down for some, is a vision for something more, but you are stuck from bringing it to life.

I get a lot of questions from my community asking questions about how to start a blog, my process in writing my book, how to start a business. Being as clear as I can and trying not to overwhelm I answer them. But then over 50% of the time the I do not see the person take the steps needed to move from dream to done.

The main reason I believe is a 4 letter F word. F E A R.

Stuck by a four letter F word? Is FEAR holding you back.

Well I am here to release you! Do not let FEAR hold you back any longer!

Pause and think for just one moment what one thing you want to be doing that you haven’t yet started because fear is holding you back.

No, I don’t mean lunch with neighbor, planning a vacation, or finally scheduling the long over due hair cut.

I am referring to the “thing”, the “vision”, the “message”, the passion project, the blog you have wanted to launch, the book you have been meaning to write, the charity you know you should to start, the new business venture that is pulling at you, the garden, the house project, the painting or perhaps anything the never ending list of possibilities you have inside you!

Your vision/goal/passion project may be something deep down you have been feeling in your heart for years or perhaps it is a new calling that you have recently felt felt growing.

If you have read any self help books or blogs lately you will know that FEAR is ok. It was put there to save us from actual danger. We all have it. We all need it to protect us from real life danger.

What we don’t need it for is to hold us back from what we are meant to be doing. To keep us living small.

It’s okay to be afraid… do it anyway!

Try This Quick Exercise to Move Passed The Fear Holding You Back

Grab a piece of paper – yes, old school works best in this situation. And take that thought and write it on a piece of paper. Preferably in black sharpie!

Now here’s where the magic really happens. On that same piece of paper write down a date when you make a promise to yourself, or to me whichever works best for you, to take action and to start to put yourself out there. To put IT out there.

Ok, are you ready for the fair dust on top of the magic?

Hold that piece of paper in your hand. Walk into a room with a mirror. Standing looking directly into the mirror and read out loud to yourself
“I, _____________, promise to begin (read the word or words on the paper) on (read the date on the paper).”

Then, say it again. And once again.

Say it as many times as needed for you to feel the strength of those words. To feel excited about finally taking the first steps necessary to put yourself out there, to put your special vision and voice out into the world.

Do not let the four letter word FEAR hold you back. We want and need to hear your voice, see your vision.
