When it comes to Fall Entranceway design I am usually more of a purist. The more gourds, grasses and pumpkins the better.
However, about 50% of my clients do request touches of Halloween added in, nothing over the top but just something to create a not so spooky entranceway design for their Fall Entranceways.

Over the years I have found certain ways to incorporate these Halloween inspired touches in with my love of pumpkins, gourds, lanterns and sign or two, to please everyone in the home.

If you are looking for a few ways to bring in just a touch of spooky while keeping your fall entranceway mainly plant and plant material based I suggest the addition of tasteful ghost, goblins or skeletons mixed in but not to overwhelm.

Ways to incorporate Halloween inspired touches in your Fall Entranceway.
Place mums and grasses in baskets or wooden boxes to keep the look overall natural but clean. Group cutting pumpkins with them to create a focal point on either side of the doorway. But be sure to keep the path clear for Halloween trick or treaters.

Stacking flatter pumpkins or gourds on top of one another gives visual height and allows for nice fall color even on smaller porches or stepped entranceways. Tuck in a few found maple leaves, or faux leaves, for added interest.
Lanterns can also add a warm glow and an additional design element. Try to get solar or version that can run on rechargeable batteries to keep cords to a minimum.

Although I would never have thought I would use these two words together but here it goes. Place tasteful skeletons in rocking chairs or seat them on steps to greet visitors. But please remember to remove them on November 1st. :)

See! It is possible to create a not so spooky entranceway design for fall and make all the members of your household happy (and your neighbors) while keeping all the gourds and grasses!
