Now more than ever your home should be the place where you feel your best. So how do you feel about your home these days? Is it time to restyle your space?
Obviously in the days of COVID, safety should be our number one priority, followed by any number of adjectives such as inspired, relaxed, motivated, calm, etc…
I am betting that recently you have spent a little extra time sitting in rooms you may not normally, or extra time in those rooms you haven’t updated in a few years, or even perhaps since moving into your home 3 years ago.
How do those spaces make you feel?
Haven’t really thought about it? Take a walk in each room, or area, of your home with a notepad and write down (without thinking too much) 3 – 5 words about how each room makes you feel.
If you are one of the lucky ones you wrote down words like: inspired, cozy, safe, happy, grateful, lucky, artsy, pretty, content…
If your home is leaving you feeling less than inspired then it is time to plan a restyle of your space.
Although you may not be able to start a renovation or redesign project right now, what you can do is prepare and plan ahead for one during this “down time”. And then when you are able to begin, you will be ready with plan in place to efficiently move through the project.
Personally I love moving and rearranging things around my home seasonally, or simply when the mood strikes me. Restyling your space can be as simple as reorganizing the items on a coffee table, restyling a bookcase, or repainting a room, each can change the way I feel in the space and the emotional reaction I have when I enter it.
Are you up for a small change? Try one, or all, of my home stylist tips for a quick refresh ::
- Swap out the basic pillow covers on your bed with a seasonal color and new texture
- Group the items on your bathroom counter on an unused tray for a clean fresh look
- Add a accent light to your kitchen counter to add light to an otherwise dark corner
- Place a small vase of cut garden flowers on your night stand for a touch of beauty ready to welcome you when you wake up
